Introducing OLT PRIME
Why we built a management tool for fiber operators, and what it does today.
Most fiber operators run their network from a terminal window. It works. It also means that every routine job — activating a customer, checking why someone is offline, changing a Wi-Fi password — needs somebody who knows the command line, and that somebody becomes the bottleneck for the whole company.
OLT PRIME exists to move that work off the command line without taking any control away from the people who know it.
What it does today
It keeps its own picture of your network. Cards, ports and every subscriber are read from your OLTs and kept current — subscriber status every minute, the full list every half hour. Your team works from that picture instead of asking the device the same question over and over.
It makes activation a form. A new device appears the moment it is plugged in. Pick a package, give it a name, confirm. The line profile, the service port and the VLAN are written for you.
It reaches into the customer's home. Change the Wi-Fi name and password, see what is connected, set up the customer's internet login — remotely. A large share of support calls are Wi-Fi calls, and most of them no longer need a visit.
It tells you what is wrong before the customer does. Weak optical signal, devices running hot, and ports that linked below their rating — a port built for 1000M that only negotiated 100M is usually a damaged cable. When a subscriber does drop, you are told whether it was a power cut, the fibre, a reset, or a switched-off device.
It backs itself up. Configuration is saved every night, so a dead card is a restore.
What is next
We are building against real networks — Huawei GPON and EPON, including operators running tens of OLTs and tens of thousands of subscribers. The roadmap comes from what those operators keep asking for.
